KY College (KYC) which was
established in 1995 is a state owned college in Malaysia providing full-time
and part-time Diploma programmes in Science and Mathematics, Business and
Accountancy, and Information Technology. KYC currently has a total of 200 staff
and 8,000 active students in its main campus. KYC, like any other colleges,
handles admission, teaching and learning, assessment and graduation as well as
marketing of program, establishing partnership with other educational
institutions, collaborating with industry players and other activities. The
Director of KYC feels that the college can save time and cost as well as
increase productivity and quality of their services by using MIS. As a start,
the Director would like to implement Business Process Re-engineering or
Business Process Restructuring (BPR) in a few selected functions/activities in
the college first before expanding to the whole college in stages.
As the IT Manager of KYC,
you have been requested to prepare a proposal
to identify functions related to
prospective students, current students and lecturers, where BPR can be
implemented with the help of MIS.
